Positioned on the slopes of the Zuurberg mountains, six of our suites are built 4 meters above the mountain cliff which command the most breath taking views of the scenic gorges. Our location on the border of the Greater Addo Elephant National Park, allows our safari lodge to offer guests elegant accommodation combined with exclusive facilities and exciting activities such as safaris and game drives, creating a memorable and unprecedented African safari experience. Camp Figtree mountain safari lodge prides itself on an excellent reputation for cuisine, hospitality and luxurious accommodation. Now the third largest national park in South Africa, Addo Elephant National Park has expanded to conserve a wide diversity of biodiversity, landscapes, fauna and flora. Our gourmet cuisine is one of the strong features on offer at Camp Figtree and we pride ourselves on producing African Country Style Karoo food with a modern twist. Our 3 chefs lead by our Head Chef, Nomimi, have all been trained to create exceptional dishes, drawing inspiration from the unique flavours of our local ingredients. Gourmet breakfasts are served in our restaurant or on the verandah (weather permitting), scrumptious muffins, homemade breads, fresh seasonal fruit salads and cooked breakfasts are all on offer. Stretching from the semi-arid karoo area in the north around Darlington Dam, over the rugged Zuurberg Mountains, through the Sundays River valley and south to the coast between Sundays River mouth and Bushman’s river mouth, Addo covers about 180 000 hectares (444 700 acres) and includes the Bird and St Croix Island groups. The original elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only sixteen elephants remained in the area.
